Estilo indirecto en inglés: he said that…, she told me…, he asked me…
Contar lo que otro dijo.
Para contar lo que alguien dijo, el verbo suele dar un paso hacia el pasado, igual que en español: «Estoy cansado» → Dijo que estaba cansado → He said that he was tired. That se puede omitir.
Dos trampas: tell lleva la persona (she told me) y say no (she said); y las preguntas contadas ya no son preguntas, así que pierden do y el orden vuelve a ser normal: He asked me where I lived.
La regla: Say + (that) + frase; tell + persona + (that) + frase. El tiempo retrocede: is → was, will → would, can → could, did → had done. Preguntas: asked + (if / palabra Wh-) + sujeto + verbo, sin do.

Si lo que dijo sigue siendo verdad, también se oye sin retroceder: She said she is from Peru.
