El pasado de be: was y were (afirmación, pregunta y negación)
Era, estaba, fue, había: dos palabras.
Be en pasado tiene solo dos formas: was para I, he, she, it, y were para you, we, they. Con ellas dices «era», «estaba», «fue» y, con there, «había».
Como be es su propio auxiliar, no necesita did: para preguntar va delante (Were you there?) y para negar lleva not (I wasn't there).
La regla: I, he, she, it → was. You, we, they → were. Pregunta: Was/Were + sujeto. Negación: wasn't, weren't. Nunca con did.
